SYMMETRY DETECTION OF CT IMAGES USING LINE HOUGH TRANSFORM

Symmetry is of great importance in digital image processing. Detection of cerebral axis of symmetry can apply to many aspects as a preprocessing means. In this article, we detect edges in the CT images at first. Obviously, line edges and curve edges are both included. Then we extract the line edges of all the edges to be the symmetry axis of brain CT images. On the basis of this idea, we detect symmetry of CT images using edge detection with different edge detectors and line detection using Hough transform. The result of detecting shows that different edge detector has different influence in symmetric axis. At last, a detailed discussion is made to explain the consequence.
