Influence of Leadership on Sustainability and Innovation in Established Companies
Though technological developments and innovation play an important role in the growth of economies,industrialization has had substantial negative effects on the natural environment and diminished the vitality and sustainability of our economic systems.How to combine economic growth and improvement of the environmental quality becomes a fundamental question.Innovation is found to be the best way to improve sustainability.Scholars and governors expect established firms to provide leadership in innovating and delivering more sustainable products and services.Sustainability takes place only when there are active leaders within the company who champion this approach and apply sustainable concept into innovation.This article first examines the main three driving forces including continuously rising cost of resources,fierce global competition and public policies for sustainability and innovation of established companies,secondly analyzes the relationship between leadership and sustainability,leadership and innovation.Thirdly,proposes a model to integrate the leadership,sustainability and innovation together.The model is suggested to be applied in existence established companies.
