Splitting Strength Analyses of Cement Asphalt Emulsion Mixtures with Different Aggregate Gradations Using Discrete Element Method
The splitting strength of cement asphalt emulsion mixtures with different aggregate gradation types were investigated in this paper, which was simulated with the Discrete Element Method (DEM) by bond parameters in two dimensions. The linear contact model and the Burgers model were developed. The splitting strength was analyzed by combining with stress-strain response under compressive loads on the mixtures. The results indicate that the mixtures with the aggregate gradation of suspended dense structure have the highest load capacity. This kind of aggregate gradation type is suitable to splitting strength improvement of the mixtures. The DEM can be used to analyze the splitting strength of the mixtures consistently with laboratory observations.
