Prospect of Converter Steelmaking Technology
The converter process in steel production was greatly improved by the invention of the top-and-bottom blowing system in the 1980’s and currently hot metal pretreatment using converter becomes popular.However,the hot metal ratio is dependent on economic conditions and the ratio of vacuum treatment increase to produce high purity steel.The areas that must be improved in the near future are the increase of thermal efficiency of the converter and the the controllability in concentration at the end of treatment.In this paper,the present situation and the areas that require immediate attention are summarized.
