How to make the plants of today comply with the requirements of tomorrow
SMS Siemag expects the future to hold great potential for the field of energy and environmental technology.In the last two years,the company has brought different innovative ecoplants concepts to market and has already been awarded orders for the corresponding technologies (e.g.energy recovery from EAF off-gas heat and a new generation of electric filters for primary BOF dedusting).We further reinforced our traditional dedication to energy-efficient and environment-friendly plants and equipment.Consequently,we extended our specialists team to offer an integrated solution how to use different energy sources available in a metallurgical plant complex most efficiently.Steelmaking processes generate a large range of gaseous byproducts like blast furnace gas,coke oven gas and converter gas that have a high energy content in the form of combustible components.Utilizing these gases as primary fuel in a firing plant contributes significantly to increased energy efficiency in steelworks,and therefore reduces the overall steel manufacturing costs and saves CO2 emissions.For the systematic utilization of these gases to generate e.g.steam for production and/or to generate electricity in a complete power station process,SMS Siemag offers a wide range of part-standardized steam generators.The presentation will sum up the ecoplants technologies introduced so far and give an outlook on the potentials of the new industrial power plants.SMS Siemag is committed to effective,eco-friendly production methods and technologies for all its plants.That also includes the whole area of water systems.The water circuits at the heart of steelmaking plants carry large quantities of fresh,process,and waste water.For instance,a conventional hot rolling mill uses approx.25,000 m3 of water per hour- as much as a city with one million inhabitants.About 98 % of this water is cooled,cleaned,treated,and fed back into the circuit.This recycling quota can be raised with special technologies to more than 99.8 %.Our range in this area covers new plants,revamps,expansions of existing plants and also consulting and spare parts service.Included here are fresh water,cooling circuits and waste water treatment.We can point to a large number of references and draw on many years of experience.The new ecoplants label is our new identification symbol for sustainable solutions by SMS Siemag.The connection of sustainability and economic growth is the result of our four ecoplants- criteria: Significant reduction in the use of raw materials,significant reduction in the use of energy and operating media,significant reduction in emissions and significant improvement in the recycling quota.
