Improving Safety and Plant Availability of the Basic Oxygen Furnaces by minimizing the steam generating tubes failure rate with Nalcos 3D TRASAR for Boilers Technology and Best Practices
In a major integrated steel plant in China, there was a very high rate of tube failures leading to safety concerns, unscheduled plant shut down and huge production loss and maintenance costs.Nalco Company, with its MOC (Mechanical,Operational and Chemical) Approach and utilizing the 3D TRASAR for Boiler technology helped the steel maker to minimize the incidence tube failures and significantly extend production consistency. This paper details the common problems with the BOF waste heat recovery boilers and the mitigation techniques that will help steel manufacturers to reduce their Total Cost of Operation.
