New developments in coil transportation of high-strength steel grades
Steel coils wound from pipe grades and ultra-high-strength grades display a high bending moment in the winds,causing considerable problems during transport in the rolling mill.With conventional binding straps high-strength coils can be secured only at great expense and effort and with up to 20 strappings.SMS Logistiksysteme has developed a completely new binding strap and a suitable strapping machine which can bind coils made from high-strength steels rapidly and securely with just a few strappings and a 6-spot welded joint.For the customer this means a much shorter strapping and cycle time and therefore a considerably higher production rate,increased security for coil transport and less material wastage.Particularly suitable for the secure and careful transport of these steel grades is the pallet transport system by SMS Logistiksysteme,which thanks to its modular construction can be used extremely flexibly in rolling mills and thanks in particular to the high savings potential in foundation work and hydraulics offers the customer enormous economic advantages.
