Mechanical Properties of H-charged Fe-18Mn-1.5Al-0.6C TWIP Steel

  The effect of H on the mechanical properties of high manganese TWinning Induced Steel (TWIP) was analyzed by charging a large amount H was charged in Fe-18Mn-0.6C-1.5Al TWIP steel after pre-straining at different temperature.The mechanical properties of the H-charged and H-free TWIP steel were compared by uni-axial tensile tests.It was found that H-charged samples displayed a reduction of the total elongation.The fractography of the tested samples revealed that inter-granular fracture occurred in a 10~20μm thick region at the sample surface of the H-charged TWIP samples.This brittle fracture surface layer is the main reason of the reduction of tensile elongation in H-charged TWIP samples.
