The Study on the Regulation of Silica Content of Sinter at TISCO

  With the construction and operation of 4350m3 BF at TISCO,low-silica content iron concentrate was used so as to produce low-silica content sinter to meet the requirements of BF.But the initial studies indicated that silica content exert significant effect on sinter strength,so a series of research work was performed to regulate the silica content of sinter by effective and economic measures,finally a iron concentrate,which was called Jianshan flotation tailings with high silica content was selected to replace serpentine.The laboratory studies were carried out on the basis of acquiring the basic information such as physical,chemical and other high temperature properties,the results demonstrated that there was subtle change in the sinter quality with the addition of high – silica content iron concentrate in sinter blend when optimizing the parameters such as sintering blend moisture,solid fuel rate and blend granulation.The comprehensive studies indicate that it is feasible to add high–silica content iron concentrate in the sintering blend to replace serpentine and better economic results are also achieved.
