Effect of Ultra-Fast Cooling Process on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties for 36kg High Strength Ship Plate

According to the dynamic continuous cooling transformation (CCT) diagrams of 36kg ship plate steel, the effects of cooling rate after deformation on austenite microstructure was studied by means of the thermal simulation experiment, and different cooling processes were applied in the laboratory rolling test. The results show that: the ferrite transformation temperature decreases with the increase of cooling rate during continuous cooling process, and the ferrite will disappear when the cooling rate is greater than 20℃/s; the austenite grain size decreases as the cooling rate increases before transformation, and the deformed austenite can be kept to the moment when austenite-to-ferrite transformation happens under high cooling rate and so the ferrite grain can be better refined; compared with accelerated cooling process, the ultra-fast cooling can gain better refined microstructure and mechanical properties.
