Collision Mechanism for Al2O3 Inclusion Modification after Calcium Treatment for Al-killed Steel
In present manuscript,Steel samples were taken out during LF refining,and the inclusion information in them was monitored by SEM combined with EDS to understand how Al2O3 inclusions modify during LF refining especially after Ca-treatment for Al-steel.Based on the inclusion observation,collision mechanism of Al2O3 inclusion modification was proposed: CaS and/or CaO based inclusions precipitate after calcium treatment due to higher Ca concentration around calcium bubble,and then CaO based inclusions and l2O3 inclusion collide together and further react with each other,finally to form liquid calcium aluminates.It is supposed about approximating 42% of inclusion modified by the collision.The modified rate of collision mechanism is much faster than the rate of Al2O3 inclusion modification only by chemical reaction.It explains partly why many Al2O3 are well modified in several minutes after Ca-treatment.
