Influence of SEN Structure on the Flow Field of Thin Slab Mold

  The mold is the heart of continuous casting process,and the flow field in the mold which is determined by the structure of SEN has a great influence on the quality of thin slab and the safety of casting process.Water simulation is an effective mean to study the flow field in the mold.In this study,the flow field in the mold when using different structure SEN were researched by water simulation,the velocity and the position of vortex center in the mold were studied by Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV),and the wave-height was measured by DJ800.The results show that,the flow field in mold when using different structure SEN have similar characteristics that have one jet and two vortexes.But the structure of SEN has direct influence on the vortex center,surface velocity and wave-height in mold.By comprehensive analysis,the SEN with four outlet holes and width is 320 mm is more suitable for continuous casting than other SEN.
