Simulation Study on Flexible Run-out Table Cooling System

  With the development of advanced high strength steel and with the production of resource-saving leaner alloy steel,it is time to upgrade the run-out table cooling system to meet the higher metallurgy requirement of these steels by making the different cooling capacity in different cooling zone.The flexible cooling line for industrial trial has been applied.But how to design the advanced cooling line is not an easy work to do.In this study,based on hydraulic models for water sprays of ultra fast cooling zone and laminar flow cooling zone and with arrangement of headers like top/bottom header ratio,a flexible cooling line can be setup to meet the requirement for cooling process of typical steel grades and gauge specifications.Then the cooling line should be validated by different coiling temperature calculations according to the cooling process parameters such as start cooling temperature,end cooling temperature,cooling rate and air cooling time.Evolution of strip temperature and valve ON/OFF are presented by simulation software based above models and practical parameters.Application of simulation software can facilitate the study of the run-out table cooling system and can provide reliable design information.
