Experimental Research and Production of Thick-walled X80 Pipeline Steel with Excellent Toughness
In this work,an overview of experimental research and production of 27.5mm X80 plate with high strength and high toughness was introduced and analyzed systematically.Slab reheating temperature was controlled to inhibit austenite grain coarsening.The continuous cooling phase transformation behavior of the steel under deforming condition was investigated.The microstructure of the steel at different cooling rates was observed by microscope.The tensile test results with different directions,including transverse and longitudinal,showed that the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength reach 600MPa and 710MPa respectively,which are far higher than requirements of API-X80,such as 555MPa and 625MPa.On the other hand,as shown from the results of Charpy impact tests at different temperatures from 20℃ to -60℃,the absorbed energy and fracture shear area at -60℃ are about 390J and 100% respectively.The microstructure of thick-walled X80 plate was analyzed and discussed.The microstructure was composed of uniform acicular ferrite containing a small amount of M/A phase.
