Influence of normalizing process on the banded structure in the 22Si2MnCrNi2MoA drill steel
The influence of normalizing process on the banded structure in the 22Si2MnCrNi2MoA drill steel was studied by means of optical microscope,SEM (scanning electron microscope) and EDS (energy dispersive spectroscopy).Besides, the banded structure of the steel was discussed. The results indicate that the level and the composition homogeneity of the banded structure in the rolled materials could be slightly improved by the normalizing process, and the optimal normalizing process is at 920℃ for 20 h on the whole.Furthermore, the banded structure is caused by the segregation of alloy elements as Si,Mn,Cr,Ni and Mo.Finally, microstructure homogenization can be enhanced by improving the cross section deformation uniformity of bars. However, homogeneous distribution control of the alloy elements in the metallurgical process is the critical way to reduce or eliminate the composition inhomogeneity of the banded structure.
