Discussion on Inspection of Oil Pipe Wall Thinning Caused by Corrosion
The corrosion damage is one of main failure modes of oil pipe.It not only can cause the leakage of oil pipe and influence on the pumping efficiency,but also can cause the failure of oil pipe and result in abandoned well accident when the damage is serious.Three testing techniques of oil pipe wall thinning caused by corrosion were introduced in this paper.The working principles were briefly described.Their advantages and limitations for the testing of various corrosion defects were analyzed.Among these techniques,the electromagnetic acoustic guided-wave testing was rapidly developed in recent years.It had some advantages such as nonuse of couplant,fast detection rate and high detection sensitivity to cross section loss of pipe,so it has been paid much attention.The electromagnetic acoustic guided-wave testing will be an important development direction in oil pipe detection field in future.
