Effect of Co Content and Sintering Temperature on Preparation of Nano-crystalline Cemented Carbide

  Nano-crystalline WC-Co cemented carbide using mixed VC+Cr3C2 as WC grain growth inhibitors is prepared by the traditional process of ball milling,pressing and vacuum sintering in this paper.The effects of different Co content and sintering temperature on the WC grain morphology and alloy densification degree are studied,and the nano-crystalline cemented carbide with WC grain size being 160 nm in the mean linear intercept method,HRA 94.0,TRS 4 500 MPa and KIC 9 MPa·m0.5 is prepared.The results show that the Co content increase will reduce the adjacency degree of nano-WC grains,thus inhibit the coalescence growth among the nano-WC grains at the early sintering stage.And,the full densification of 160 nm nano-crystalline cemented carbide made of 70 nm WC powder material must be sintered at high temperature,which is out of accord with the thermal characteristic of nano materials.
