Compound Fatigue Behavior of Cemented Tungsten Carbides
The fatigue behaviour of four cemented tungsten carbides YGH60,YGR60,YGH30,YGR30 under cyclic loading,thermo-mechanical and thermo-corrosion condition were investigated. The results show that:thermo-mechanical conditions obviously reduce fatigue life obviously compared with only mechanical conditions. The common feature of the S-N curves obtained in both fatigue conditions is that:at high stress level, materials fatigue life is more corresponding to its strength. While at low stress level fatigue life increases with increasing binder content.WC-Co-Ni-Cr alloys (YGR) show better thermo-mechanical fatigue resistance than WC-Co alloys (YGH).Thermo-corrosion fatigue results show that high binder content alloys YGH60 and YGR60 exhibit lower crack propagation rate.Low binder content alloys YGH30 and YGR30 conduct better crack propagation resistance in acid environment than in neutral and alkali solution.Co-Ni-Cr binder alloys YGR30 and YGR60 show better crack propagation resistance in corrosion environment. It is worth noting that the crack propagation behavior of YGR60 is similar for all three environments.
