The Calcination of Zinc-Based Aerogel Composite
With the epoxide initiated sol-gel process, handy zinc chloride was utilized to synthesize zinc-based aerogel. After supercritical drying of wet gels in CO2,zinc–based aerogels were prepared. With the subsequently thermal treatment in selected atmospheres and designed heating program of zinc–based aerogels, zinc oxide aerogels of high porosity, large specific area (125m2/g),narrow particle sizes distribution (2 to 50nm) and excellent hexagonal wurtzite structure were obtained. The microstructures and compositions of zinc oxide aerogels obtained in different atmospheres were characterized. The results showed that decreasing the ratio between oxygen and nitrogen contributed to the maintenance of monolith and desirable microstructure. It was a promising method to design new zinc oxide aerogel with attractive nanoarchitectures.
