A study on of effects of the angle of oil cooler internal turbulence generator on heat transfer
A Study on the Effects of the Angle of the Internal Turbulence Generator on the Heat Transfer Characteristics of an Oil Cooler. In this study,a compact fin heat exchanger is being designed and developed for the development of a compact oil cooler for the hydraulic steering of automobiles. The test is performed by using a turbo blower with sufficient capacity to control the air suction velocity and flowrate. At the duct inlet,a heater and a heater controller is installed to regulate the air inlet temperature.Oil is circulated through the heat exchanger and chiller by the oil pump. The fixed test parameters are the various angles of the turbulizer installed inside the heat exchanger, the air flux and flow, and the temperature conditions. The inlet and the outlet temperatures of the flowing oil and the heat transfer rate are then measured. It is observed that as the angle of the turbulizer is increased the heat transfer rate and the heat transfer coefficient also increased. However, the increase of the angle also resulted to the increase of the flow resistance.Considering this the optimum angle was determined to be 45°.With this angle the heat transfer rate increased to about 30%,and the flow resistance increased to about 37%.The correlation with the optimum angle is then determined.
