A THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE EVAPORATION RATE OF METHANOL DROPLETS ON A HORIZONTAL SURFACE

  The evaporation of droplet on a substrate is a complicated topic.Considering the droplet shape as a spherical cap,the equations of the evaporation rates of the droplet for the constant contact angle stage,constant contact diameter stage and the transitional stage are theoretical analyzed and verified by experiment.The investigation results show that three stages are in the evaporation process,and the evaporation rate is consistent with the theoretical conclusion.In constant contact angle stage,the evaporation rate is proportional to the square of the base radium.In constant contact diameter stage,the evaporation rate is proportional to the cube of the base radium.The evaporation rate of the transitional stage approximates to that of the constant contact angle phase.
