SOLID CONCENTRATION DISTRIBUTION OF TBAB CLATHRATE HYDRATE SLURRY IN A STORAGE TANK

  Solid concentration distribution is an important topic in the thermal/cold storage by phase change material slurry (PCS) due to the different densities of the solid particle and carrier fluid.Tetra-butylammonia Bromide clathrate hydrate slurry (TBAB CHS) has recently been investigated intensively for the purpose of the cold storage.However,TBAB CHS will be significantly stratified due to larger density of TBAB hydrate particle.In present study,solid concentration distribution of TBAB CHS in a storage tank is both experimentally and numerically investigated.Different drag force models are employed to predict the solids concentration distribution because of the non-spherical shape of TBAB hydrate crystal.It is shown that the numerical results deviate from the experimental ones because the hydrate crystals aggregate to form large cluster and the particle size affects the analytical results significantly,and the effective size of the hydrate cluster can be obtained from the investigation.
