THE EFFECTS OF DC/AC MAGNETIC FIELDS ON THE SUPERCOOLING PHENOMENON OF PHYSIOLOGICAL SALINE

The super-cooling of water-solution is affected by many factors. The research of water supercooling is of great significance in the field of food frozen and conservation and cryobiology. In this study experiments were carried out to investigate the supercooling of physiological saline systematically under DC and AC magnetic fields with different intensity.A test bench which can monitor magnetic field intensity and supercooling in real time was designed and setup. The results showed that both DC and AC magnetic field can,to some extent, reduce the possible lowest unfrozen temperature and increase supercooling degree. With increasing DC/AC magnetic field intensity, the supercooling increases. The supercooling time was also prolonged under the DC or AC magnetic field, while saline maintains supercooling state at a much longer time under AC magnetic field. This effect is thought to be related to the formation of water molecular hydrogen bonds and the Lorentz force of solution ion. This finding is valuable for cryobiology and food frozen.
