THEORETICAL STUDY ON VACUUM COOLING BY WATER SPRAY EVAPORATION
Ice slurry production by water spray evaporation in a vacuum environment is an energy efficient technology. This paper gives a study on the process of cooling of droplets by vacuum evaporation.A physical model was developed to theoretically study the cooling of liquid at steady sate in the chamber.Mathematical models were built. The temperature evolution of water droplets along the position of the chamber was derived. The factors affecting the vacuum cooling process, including the pressure, the area of the interface and the falling velocity of water droplets, were evaluated. Results showed that the first two factors were more important. Results obtained from this paper will provide valuable reference for a series of questions concerned on dynamic ice slurry production by water spray evaporation in a vacuum chamber.
