The theoretical calculation and computer simulation of the reservoir issues in low-temperature circuit of CO2 cascade refrigeration cycle system

The CO2 is often used as the refrigerant in low-temperature circuit of which cascade refrigeration cycle includes CO2.Generally,the fluid reservoir is common equipment in low-temperature circle, and its installation diagram is shown as fallows. No considering the loss of leakage heat.On the one hand, due to friction, the pressure will drop when liquid CO2 flow from reservoir to the pump.On the other hand, the refrigerants loss of gravitational potential energy in the vertical height can overcome frictional resistance. To evade the pressure drop because of removing the liquid CO2 from the reservoir to the pump which results in temperature rise, but also to prevent the pressure drop produced flash gas (also known as cavitation) and damage to the pump.So our point is to study in which installation height and diameter can the loss of gravitational potential energy balance the friction resistance, which bases on the known of cooling capacity, the temperature and pressure in the reservoir, the velocity of the fluid. To solve this problem,we derive the relationship between installation height and diameter respectively by theoretical calculation and computer simulation.
