Simulation Investigation on Solar Driven Desiccant Coated Heat Exchanger Cooling System
Desiccant coated heat exchanger is fabricated by coating desiccant material to the surface of conventional fin-tube heat exchanger. It can be driven by low grade thermal energy. In this paper, solar driven desiccant coated heat exchanger cooling system (SDCCS) is proposed and analyzed by simulation.First,a one-dimensional mathematical model is established predict the complex heat and mass transfer phenomenon of desiccant coated heat exchanger, which is validated by several experimental data. Then the model is integrated with the model of solar collector to predict the performance of SDCCS.It is found that SDCCS has higher solar utilization ratio. When the temperatures of hot water (regeneration temperature) are equal to 60℃,70℃ and 80℃,the corresponding solar utilization ratios are 58%,40% and 23% respectively. In summary,SDCCS has the potential to be widely adopted in the areas of solar air conditioning as well as humidity control.
