Effect of Interfering Ions on Ammonium Nitrogen and Phosphate Recovery from Livestock Wastewater

Chemical precipitation by forming magnesium ammonium phosphate (MAP) is an efficient technology for ammonium nitrogen and phosphate recovery. In the present study,we examined the effect of interfering ions K+,Ca2+,and CO32-,on ammonium nitrogen and phosphate recovery trom livestock wastewater. The conclusions were drawn as following:(1) with the Ca2+ concentration increased,NH4+recovery efficiency decreased and PO43-recovery efficiency increased; (2) with the CO32-concentration increased,NH4+ and PO43-recovery efficiency decreased; (3) with an increase in K+ concentration,NH4+recovery efficiency decreased and PO43-recovery efficiency did not change significantly.
