Nitrite Stress on the Antioxidant Enzymes Activity in Hemolymph of Charybdis japonica

  In order to discuss the effects of nitrite on the antioxidant enzymes activity in hemolymph of Charybdis japonica,the crabs were exposed to six nitrite-N groups (0,2.0,4.0,6.0,8.0 and 10.0 mg/L ambient nitrite-N concentrations).The superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activity was examined on days 1,3,5,10 and 15 following the stress.Results showed that the two indexes appeared to have a decline trend after an initial ascent.After 1 day treatment,the SOD and CAT activity in five treatments were both higher than those of the control group.With time elapsed,the CAT activity in 2.0 and 4.0 mg/L group and SOD activity in 8.0 and 10.0 mg/L group increased faster than other treatments.After exposed to nitrite-N for 10 day,SOD and CAT activity in treatments were lower significantly than those in control(P<0.05).The SOD and CAT activity in treatments were negatively related to the nitrite-N stress concentration on day 15,and the activity of these two kinds of enzymes of 10.0 mg/L group decreased 36.84%,and 77.78%,respectively,when compared to the control group.
