Influence of HRT in a PTFE Membrane Bioreactor

  Abstact:Influence of hydraulic retention time (HRT) on COD and ammonia nitrogen removal was studied in an UASB/anoxic/aerobic membrane bioreactor with fixed recycle rates,according to the high COD,low biodegradability of landfill leachate.The results showed a good effluent quality of COD and turbidity by using UASB/anoxic/aerobic membrane bioreactor treatment.The HRTs were varied between 10and 15 h.when HRT was 10h,12.8h and 15h,the average removal efficiency of COD got to 88.52%,94.96% and 90.37% respectly.The removal showed a first increased and then slowly decreased trend,and met maximum (94.96%) at 12.8h.In terms of ammonia nitrogen removal,the average removal increased according to the increasing HRTs,arriving to 78.68%,98.08%,and 98.96% respectly.The favorable HRTs for combined optimal COD and ammonia nitrogen removal were found to be 12.85h.
