Allelopathic Potential of Three Glucopyranosyl-Glycerides from Gracilaria lemaneiformis on the Growth of Skeletonema costatum
Three bioactive natural products were founded in a red alga,Gracilaria lemaneiformis. After isolation and purification, the molecular structures of these products were investigated by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectroscopy. The three compounds were identified to be 1-O-Palmitoyl-3-O-β-D-galaetopyranosyl glycerol (1),1-O-Palmitoyl-2-O-palmitoleoyl-3-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl glycerol (2),l-O-Palmitoyl-2-O-oleoy1-3-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl glycerol (3) which were obtained from G.lemaneiformis for the first time. The allelopathic potential of three glucopyranosyl-glycerides,considered as potential allelochemicals, showed algal activity in the reaction sytem of micralgae Skeletonema costatum in laboratory bioassays.
