Compression of Fault Data in Power System Based on Lifting Wavelet Transform

  Along with the steady elevation of fault process monitoring level,the rapid increase of the fault recording data brought troubles to data transmission and storage.A new method of data compression combing lifting wavelet transform and Huffman coding was proposed in this paper.Data were converted from time-domain to frequency-domain by lifting integer wavelet transform.The high-frequency coefficients were then compressed by an improved threshold compression algorithm.Huffman coding was carried out with the processed data.Results of simulative experiments indicate that this method has a higher compression ratio when applied to fault recording data compression.
