The Selection of Benchmarking Using DEA Supper Efficiencies
In order to reach the industry frontier,one or more firms are selected as the benchmark in the practice of management.The selected units must be advanced on one hand; on the other hand,they could be caught up by their followers in real situation.This paper used both cluster analysis and DEA to select the benchmark for each decision making unit.In order to find out the most appropriate benchmark,this paper proposed two assumptions about the similarity of inputs and outputs.Different from other researches,the new approach identifies the production ability as a measure of accessibility,and the DEA super-efficiency as a measure of leadership.Finally,this paper used the proposed method to select benchmarking for 14 Chinese commercial banks based on their input-output data in 2010,the results show that the proposed method is practical to find benchmarking enterprises for the objective units.
