Introduction, Phenophase Observation and Shade-Tolerance Research of Several Wild Woody Ornamental Species in Hubei Areas
Nine wild woody species with high ornamental value were introduced and cultivated after investigation of endemic plants in Hubei Areas. The ornamental traits and phenological phase have been observed. Moreover, the shade-tolerance and chlorophyll content were screened. The results showed that all species could grow normally in Wuhan. The anthesis phases of species are from February to May,in which, Camellia rosthorniana is the first and Callicarpa bodinieri is the last.Camellia rosthorniana, Daphne genkwa and Symplocos caudata have high ornamental value in floral parts; Callicarpa bodinieri and Eusecaphis japonica in fruits; Acer fabri, Acer ginnala and Lindera aggregate in foliage; Viburnum betulifolium in all of those.Lindera aggregate has high shade-tolerance whereas Callicarpa bodinieri, Daphne genkwa and Acer ginnala have low shade-tolerance.
