The design of Re-usable Carius tube for the determination of Re and Os in geological samples by ICP-MS

　　Traditional Carius tube technique requires cumbersome and skillful work sealing of the glass tube that can be used only once.In addition,it is difficult to transfer samples into the Carius tube.We develop a new technique in which does not require sealing glass tubes using a high temperature welding torch for melting the tube.The newly designed glass tube consists of the main body,neck and head.The main body has a 3 mm thick glass wall and 200 ml volume,whereas the neck and head have glass wall of 4 mm thickness.This new type Carius tube can be used repeatedly,and can be used for routine analysis of PGE and Re and Os in geological samples.
