The PGE-mineralization of the net-textured Ni-Cu-Sulfide Ore of Zhelos intrusion
The Zhelos intrusion containing the Cu-Ni ore with PGE is located at Biryusinskiy block near the margins of Siberian Craton. The intrusion is composed of olivine pyroxenite and lherzolite. The richest sulfide ores are confined to the bottom of the intrusion. The ratio Ni/(Ni+Fe)=0.46-0.47 in pentlandite from net-textured ore corresponds to lgf(S2)= –10.The ore mineralization is characterized by a high proportion of IPGE,which are concentrated in omeiite, irarsite and hollingworthite. It indicates that a parental melt of the Zhelos intrusion was formed under a high degree of mantle melting. The extensive development of PGE arsenides and sulfoarsenides is due to increased activity of As in ore-forming system. The irarsite is the earliest mineral. The sequential formation of Pd- and Ni-bearing hollingworthite and then Pd- and Ni-bearing cobaltite is associated with the accumulation incompatible elements in the residual sulfide melt.Pd minerals and Au-Ag alloys were formed at the final stage of evolution of the sulfide liquid of the Zhelos intrusion. All PGM are magmatic and they are the result of the evolution of sulfide melt.
