Trace element in titanomagnetite from Panzhihua Fe-Ti-V deposit:Implications for parental magma composition, evolution and ore genesis
This work presents the first LA-ICP-MS analyses of titanomagnetite (Ti-Mt) from the lower ~1000 m of the mineralized Panzhihua gabbroic layered intrusion. Two distinct types of Ti-Mt are identified on the basis of Cr content. Both types display nearly constant trace element contents throughout the intrusion, except for Cr and Ni,which show an upward decrease in abundance. The high-Cr Ti-Mt is distinct in terms of Cr-Al-Fe3+ proportions from those from typical layered intrusions, but shows similarity to oxides found in Noril’sk-Talnakh and Jinchuan. The low-Cr magnetite displays lower Cr and broader range of Al and Fe3+ compared with Ti-Mt from other layered intrusions.
