Preparation and Characterization of Nanofibrous Vascular Tissue Engineering Scaffolds via Phase Separation
Major limitations for the development of a clinically useful small diameter tissue engineered vascular graft (TEVG) are lack of good mechanical and elastic properties, compliance mismatch, and thrombosis. In this study, porous poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) based vascular scaffolds were fabricated by using thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) technique, their mechanical and elastic properties were enhanced by the addition of PLCL.Furthermore,in order to improve blood patency rate, the scaffolds were crosslinked with heparin. The obtained scaffolds were characteried byscanning electron microscope (SEM),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR),and tensile strength testing.
