Teachers Use of ICT in Classroom and Curriculum Integration
Information and Communications technologies (ICT) are crucial tools for teaching because they improve students performance and motivation.Eighty five teachers completed a survey (154 items) about the use of ICT in classroom (Cronbach alpha =.89).A quasi-experimental study with one non-randomized study group was conducted; descriptive statistics and Factorial Analysis (ANOVA) were applied to data.Main results indicate that (1) the use ofICT in classroom is limited to basic functions:e.g.internet,email and word processor; (2) the impact of training towards the use of ICT in classroom is very low; and (3) teachers face many limitations which are imposed mainly by lack of resources (e.g.computers),lack of time and teacher motivation. In conclusion, advancing towards an effective use of ICT in classroom requires in-practice mentoring (e.g.guided practice) and peer collaboration and not only traditional training.
