The Employment of Focus on Form Teaching Mode in College English Teaching--Taking the Teaching of Passive Voice as an Example
This article first defines the concept of focus on form (for short,FOF),and then it takes the teaching of passive voice as an example to illustrate how to use the three-stage teaching mode of FOF in college English teaching.The first stage is about Input-oriented activities,the main purpose of which is to let students expose to the use of target language in meaning-focused communication; the explicit teaching carried out in second stage will help learners obtain explicit knowledge,that is,knowledge about grammar rules;the third stage,output-oriented activities,will help students internalize target language forms through output practice so that students can fluently employ those forms in communication.
