NEW VENTURES IN MONITORING A FREEZE-DRYING PROCESS

　　This paper deals with the problem of monitoring the freeze-drying process of thermo-labile products,that is,tracking the temperature and position of the moving front.The ideal monitoring tool should give an accurate,complete and non-invasive estimation of the above parameters and should be compatible with pre-existing plants.Various technical problems arise when attempting to apply one the techniques proposed in Literature,e.g.the pressure rise test and TDLAS technique.It is here presented a novel and affordable way,which is based on the shut-off of the controlled leakage valve,to estimate the vapor flow rate and retrieve the parameters of interest.
