MODELING OF ADSORPTIVE DRYING OF SELECTED ALIPHATIC ALCOHOLS IN TSA SYSTEM
Based on the experimental work closely connected with mathematical modeling,an analysis was made for the adsorptive drying of selected water-aliphatic alcohols solu-tions.The experimental work involved ethanol,n-propanol and n-butanol dehydration us-ing two adsorbents,3A and 4A zeolite molecular sieves. The developed isothermal model incorporates an overall linear mass driving force, including liquid film mass transfer and intraparticle diffusion coefficients,a variable axial diffusivity and experimentally deter-mined Langmuir-Freundlich isotherms.Breakthrough curves generated by the model were compared with those obtained experimentally giving fairly good fit.The model simula-tions enabled determination of the water content profiles in adsorbents bed.
