COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF SEED COATING TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE GERMINATION AND SEEDLING STABLISHMENT OF MILLET
This work aims to evaluate two different gels, agar and sodium alginate, with another components,as encapsulation matrices for millet seeds,as well as analyze and compare two seed coating techniques: dipping and rotating pan.It was found that the composition of the mixture influences the processes of dripping, gelation and handling of the encapsulation matrix and that the dripping using sodium alginate-based matrix is more viable, because gelation occurs from a chemical reaction.Furthermore, both techniques are promising for coating seeds, but the rotating pan allows the coating of a larger number of seeds with a small residence time.
