INVESTIGATION OF THE INFLUENCES OF THE DRYER WALLS,FLOW MODIFIER AND THE DISCHARGE DEVICE ON PARTICLE VELOCITY DISTRIBUTION BY DISCRETE ELEMENT METHOD

  For corn drying one of the most popular possibilities in Hungary and also in many European countries is to use different types of cross flow dryers.Results of our many investigations of these types of industrial / model dryers show that there are large differences in the vertical grain particle velocity.These significant differences cause differences in the residence time and also uneven drying which means under-drying or over-drying in grain portions.In order to investigate the influences of the dryer walls,flow modifier and the discharge device on the particle velocity distribution experiments have been carried out in industrial and laboratory size dryers and the measured results were compared and evaluated with the ones of discrete element models.
