IMMERSION FRYING DRYING OF SEWAGE SLUDGE USING WASTE COOKING OIL

　　Sewage sludge and waste food oil are two main waste sources of the modern China cities.In this paper,the thermal drying of municipal sewage sludge was carried out by the immersion frying method using the waste food oil.The drying and oil uptake curves were plotted to demonstrate the frying drying characteristics of the sewage sludge.Parametric studies were carried out to identify the governing parameters in the drying process.Experimental results showed the oil frying of sewage sludge is a fast drying process and dried sludge has a moisture content of lower than 1%,oil content of 35-45% and a heating value of 21.5-24 MJ.The oil temperature plays an important role in the sludge frying process.The frying mechanisms of sewage sludge are also discussed.
