MECHANISM OF A SINGLE DROPLET IMPACTING ON THE SPHERICAL SURFACE
Droplet-spherical surface collision is a fundamental issue in the application of spray coating,trickle bed reaction,etc.In this paper,a single droplet impacting on a spherical surface at room temperature was investigated by analyzing the changes of droplet dimensions and coating efficiency taken with a high-speed camera.When contacting the spherical surface,the droplet spreads,retracts,relaxes or splashes on the surface.The effects of impact velocity (0.88~4.43m/s) and outer diameters of spherical surface (5~15mm) were analyzed.A relationship between critical K number and sphere diameter was established for theory analysis and numerical simulation.
