INFLUENCE OF WETTING PROPERTIES ON DRYING BEHAVIOR OF HIGHLY POROUS PARTICLE AGGREGATES
The influence of wetting properties on drying behavior of highly porous particle aggregates is investigated experimentally and by pore-scale simulations.X-ray microtomography has been used to track the evolution of the liquid distribution in the pore space of a model particle aggregate subjected to convective drying from top face. For the same model system,3D numerical simulations based on volume-of-fluid method have been used to calculate liquid distributions over time. Results are presented as phase distributions, indicating that the wetting property of the solid influences the liquid phase distribution over time and affects the dynamics of the receding drying front.
