THE KINETICS OF CONDUCTIVE AND CONVECTIVE DRYING OF CUT TOBACCO IN A BATCH ROTARY DRYER

  In this work,the kinetics of conductive and convective drying of cut tobacco was investigated in a laboratory scale batch-rotary dryer.The drying experiments were carried out under different wall (jacket) temperature,air temperature and relative humidity.Eleven different models,were applied to fit the experimental data and compared according to their coefficients of determination (R2 and χ2).The results showed that “the two term exponential model and “Midilli et al.model can be applied to characterize the kinetics of drying process in batch rotary dryer and the Midilli model is the best one.The conclusions could help choose the most suitable operating conditions and control drying process.
