MATHEMATICAL MODELING OF MEAN RESIDENCE TIME OF CUT TOBACCO PARTICLES IN A ROTARY DRYER
In this paper,an empirically modified transportation model, akin to Friedman and Marshall model, was developed to predict the mean residence time of cut tobacco particles in a rotary dryer. In addition, the coefficients of drying kinetics model (Midilli model) of cut tobacco were also derived from experiments in a batch rotary dryer.By coupling the empirically modified transportation model with the drying kinetics model, the mean residence time was obtained. The simulation results on mean resident time were in good agreement with experimental findings obtained by weighting the sampling method.
