DISTRIBUTED MODEL FOR DRYING OF RENDERED PROTEIN MATERIAL IN INDUSTRIAL ROTATING PLATE DRYERS
This article describes a mathematical model for the drying of bulk protein material in a rotating plate dryer with steam as the heating medium.Transfer of bulk movement, evaporation of water and heat transfer between the material and the dryer are the main phenomena in this drying process. The motion of material through the dryer is established by the rotation of shovels and gravity.A space-dependent Reaction Engineering Approach (REA) is developed to model the evaporation of water. The results of this model fit qualitatively with industrial data.Due to the lack of extensive experimental data, some parameters in this method have,at present, not been determined.
