THERMODYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF COFFEE EXTRACT SPRAY DRYING
In this work, the energy consumption and first and second law thermal efficiency of coffee extract spray drying were evaluated at different air flows (8700– 14397 kgh-1) and temperatures (140-212 °C).The feed flow of coffee extract was constant (575 kgh-1) with a 50 % of solids content. The analysis was developed by simulation from an industrial coffee extract spray drier. The results obtained showed that at inlet air flow of 13000 kgh-1 and air temperature of 160 °C,a minimal energy consumption (3134 kJkg-1) was obtained with high first and second law thermal efficiencies (0.74 and 0.87).
